Focus on Success this New
Year
It's that time of year again...
Everyone is talking about New Year's resolutions and what to do next
year that will "make it all better".
You and I both know that this is usually some sort of half hearted commitment
about losing weight, exercising more, saving money, being nicer to people...
whatever.
The "experts" are coming out in droves to tell you how to:
“make this your best year ever", "finally lose that 10
pounds" or "gain that extra muscle that you've always wanted".
Just like every year, the masses will follow the advice and funnel into
the gyms, buy the products and “really TRY to make it work this
time”.
Why do we continue to do this each and every year? The fact is, most
people will find that this year's resolutions are probably the exact same
ones she or he failed to achieve last year.
Perhaps the solution doesn’t lie in the New Year, but rather in
this year that is coming to an end.
As one looks forward to an arbitrarily selected time or place, like the
New Year, to "Re Solve" some problem, he is actually spending
time focusing on failures and short-comings of the previous year. Sugar
coating the situation by calling it a “Resolution” just plain
won’t make it work. Outcomes usually do follow your focus.
This year, try looking back over the past year to find and appreciate
those things that you have been successful with. Invest some time this
New Year to reflect on your success and the life you have created.
Ask yourself... "What have I done this year that I am proud of?"
"What great things did I finally accomplish this year?"
"What are the things that I most appreciate about my current life
and lifestyle?"
This should get you started toward finding the success that you have created
over the last year. Be persistent and take some time to focus on the positive
things around you.
If you find it difficult to define a long list of things to appreciate,
ask someone close to you. Often the people around you will be able to
see things in your life as a success that you take for granted.
The success you have achieved thus far forms a foundation for future
success. Understanding the strength of your foundation, you can begin
to build over the next year.
You will grow much faster and stronger on this new foundation, and you
won't find yourself "Re Solving" the same old problems next
year.
New perspective, new appreciation, new objectives for this New Year!
"One Thought Fitness Tip"
With all of the "stuff" happening during the holidays, it's
usually pretty tough to take all of the great advice to keep fit and healthy.
So I figured I'd keep it really easy for you and share one simple thought
that will do a great deal to help you stay healthy in spite of some holiday
"indiscretions"
Drink Water
That's it. Start your day with a big glass of water and then drink water
throughout the day. When you head off to those holiday parties, have a
glass of water between each adult beverage.
Enjoy this holiday season. We'll see you next year
